BIOGRAPHY
Flutist Sara Andon is an international soloist and recording artist known for her ravishing tone and deeply engaging musical interpretations. A versatile performer in many music genres including solo, chamber, symphonic, opera, ballet, new music, jazz and Broadway, she has performed all over the world in major concert venues, TV and radio broadcasts, as well as on countless motion picture soundtracks, TV, video games and documentaries. Ms. Andon has performed with orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and in orchestras for Broadway shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Wicked (LA Company).
She is also a solo flutist with the acclaimed contemporary music ensemble 'Brightwork New Music'. As a Varèse Sarabande concert soloist, Andon has been featured in a series of live events that began in 2013 celebrating the largest film score record label in the world, with concerts in Los Angeles and at various festivals around the globe, performing premiere arrangements for solo flute and orchestra of iconic film composers, including being a featured soloist for the 40th Anniversary of Varèse Sarabande with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Andon is a virtuoso of Hollywood scoring sessions with several credits including Disney’s Lady and The Tramp, The Jungle Book (Live-action), Crazy Rich Asians, IT and IT: Chapter 2, The Greatest Showman, Ice Age: Collision Course, Fast & Furious 7 & 8, The Wolverine, Tron, Straight Outta Compton, Fences, Rush Hour 3, X- Men: Apocalypse working with composers such as John Powell, Lalo Schifrin, Christopher Young, Mark Isham, Joseph Trapanese, John Ottman, Benjamin Wallfisch, Austin Wintory, Conrad Pope, William Ross and Jeff Beal. Andon’s recent recording work for 2021 includes being principal flute on John Debney’s "Clifford, The Big Red Dog", Brian Tyler’s “Those Who Wish Me Dead”, Marco Beltrami’s “Venom 2”, and Jeff Russo’s Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Picard, Fargo, and The Umbrella Academy. Andon is also heard on Animaniacs (Reboot), Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville and David Newman’s Green Eggs and Ham.
She is featured regularly on scores for video games in live performances and for recordings, including the Grammy®-nominated Journey, Fortnite, World of Warcraft, Torn, Star Craft 2, and League of Legends. Andon is a featured soloist on recent Varèse Sarabande recordings including 1985 At The Movies with conductor and composer David Newman, and an all-star Hollywood Studio Orchestra, Elmer Bernstein: The Wild Side, with Big Band de Canarias and Jean-Michel Bernard Plays Lalo Schifrin.
Her new solo album "Cinema Morricone: An Intimate Celebration" has been released on Sony Classical to rave reviews and honors the legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone.
Andon is a graduate from USC and Yale and is currently the Principal Flute of Redlands Symphony and the Los Angeles Ballet Company, in addition to being a tenured member of the amazing SBSO flute section! She is also the Artist Teacher of Flute at the University of Redlands School of Music and the Idyllwild School of the Arts.
